South Padre Island, Texas - On Thursday, July 4th, 2024, a shark attack at South Padre Island injured four people, including an 11-year-old girl who was hospitalized. The attack occurred on the 4100 block of Gulf Boulevard around 11 am. The South Padre Island Fire Department responded to a call regarding a suspected shark bite, and the girl was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
This is the second shark attack in South Padre Island within the past month. On June 10th, a man suffered a severe shark bite during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Authorities are investigating the incident and have advised beachgoers to be cautious. They have increased patrols and are advising people to stay out of the water if they see sharks or other marine life.
