EF-1 Tornado Storms Cause Destruction in Katy Area

Several Homes and Businesses Destroyed at Shopping Plaza

A powerful storm system swept through the Gulf Coast on Tuesday, bringing with it a series of tornadoes that caused extensive damage to the Katy area. One of the most significant tornadoes touched down at a shopping plaza on South Mason Road, leaving several homes and businesses destroyed.

According to local officials, the EF-1 tornado had wind speeds of up to 110 mph and caused significant structural damage to at least 10 buildings. Emergency crews are currently on the scene working to clear debris and assess the extent of the damage.

Thankfully, there have been no reports of any fatalities or serious injuries as a result of the tornadoes. However, several people were reportedly injured and are receiving medical attention.

The National Weather Service is urging residents of the affected areas to stay indoors and avoid any unnecessary travel. Power lines have been downed, and there are reports of gas leaks in some areas.

Officials are asking residents to report any damage to their property to their local authorities. They are also encouraging people to check on their neighbors, especially those who may be elderly or have disabilities.
