All-Star Center Undergoes Surgery, Status for Playoffs Uncertain

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has undergone successful surgery to address a torn meniscus in his left knee, the team announced on Tuesday.
Embiid, a four-time NBA All-Star, was initially injured in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the New York Knicks. The 76ers lost that game at home by a score of 106-99, putting the Knicks up 3-1 in the series.
The 76ers are 11-16 since Embiid went down with the knee injury. The team has struggled to find consistency without their star center, who is averaging 29.9 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game this season.
The 2024 NBA Playoffs will open on April 20, and Embiid's status for the playoffs is currently uncertain. The 76ers are scheduled to face the Miami Heat in the first round, but they will need to get Embiid back healthy if they want to have a chance to advance.
