Washington Wizards Guard Sustains Wrist Injury

Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal underwent successful surgery today to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist. The All-Star guard is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season due to the injury.
Beal suffered the injury during a game against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night. He was diagnosed with a torn lunotriquetral ligament, which is located in the wrist and helps stabilize the joint.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Thomas Graham at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Beal is expected to begin rehabilitation immediately and will be re-evaluated in six weeks.
The Wizards have struggled in Beal's absence, losing their last four games. They currently sit at 10-15 on the season and are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference.
Beal is the Wizards' leading scorer, averaging 21.8 points per game this season. He is also a key part of Washington's defense, averaging 1.6 steals and 0.5 blocks per game.
The Wizards will have to rely on other players to step up in Beal's absence. Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis are expected to take on larger roles in the offense, while Delon Wright and Jordan Goodwin will be tasked with providing more defense.
